Getting Ready for Spring Clean Up With the City Wide Garage Sale and the Spring Clean-up Day coming up in early May, expect to see city staff out and about in April.   The city will be checking properties for compliance with the  Halsey Municipal Code, including nuisances (HMC 5.05) and property stored on the city right of way (HMC 6.05.) The Spring Clean-up Day offers a great opportunity to have junk or debris hauled away from your home for free.  If you have difficulty getting a particular item  to the curb, you can even call the city for help starting two weeks before the clean up day.
Solicitor’s License Required
We have received several recent reports of persistent solicitors in town. Solicitation licenses are required in Halsey for any person who is selling door-to-door. Each individual should be able to produce a license like the one pictured, issued in his or her name. These licenses must be obtained prior to any selling activity, and background checks are run on each applicant. If you are ever uncomfortable with a salesperson coming to your home, ask to see their license. You can call the Linn County Sheriff Non-Emergency Line at (541) 967-3950 to report any person (with ot without a license) that is behaving innapropriately, or is making you uncomfortable. Thank you for keeping Halsey safe! Example

Speed Zone on O Street New, reduced speed limit signs have been posted on O Street. After consulting with Linn County, it was decided that the speed limit should be reduced from 35 to 25 mph in order to provide a safe residential area, as well as ensure safety for children who are entering and exiting school buses. Please be aware of this change, and help keep everyone safe.
