City of Halsey
Welcome to 2017!  This year is shaping up to be a busy one for Halsey, with four infrastructure projects scheduled for the year.  First, Alyrica is continuing work on bringing high-speed internet access to every home and business in the city, and they may finish laying fiber on the west side of town this year.  Once the project is complete, the city can begin marketing itself as The Little Town with Fast Internet to smaller companies that need really fast internet speeds for their business.   Street improvements are also on tap this year.  A Special City Allotment (SCA) grant will pay to replace the section of H Street in front of DLF’s warehouse that is so badly damaged from heavy traffic.  The city also has a Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) grant to do the preliminary design and engineering plan for improvements to 99E within the city limits.  While the roadwork won’t start this year, the project plan will enable us to be ready when the state has funding in the future. The city will begin work on the new Veterans Memorial Park next to the library this coming summer and we anticipate completion by the fall.  It’s going to be a busy year! -- Mayor Marjean Cline
